SFAI Skechers Connacht Regional Cup Finals set to take place this weekend
It’s set to be a thrilling weekend in Connacht with four SFAI Skechers Regional Cup Finals taking place on Saturday and Sunday.
The showpiece games will be played in the County Grounds in Lecarrow, with the U13 and U14 finals scheduled for Saturday and the U12 and U15 Finals penned in for Sunday.
The U16 final between Salthill Devon and Renmore was due to be played on Thursday night (January 31st), but has been rescheduled for next Friday (8th February) night due to inclement weather.
The opening final on Saturday sees Castlebar Cetlic and Knocknacarra battle it out for the U13 Daryl Horgan Cup.
Celtic come into the final off the back of a win last weekend against North End United in the last 32 of the national competition, while Knocknacarra were beaten in extra-time by Donacraney Celtic.
Next up on Saturday will be the U14 Greg Cunningham Cup Final between Merville United and Westport United.
Merville were in action last weekend in the national rounds of the SFAI Skechers National Cup, beating Villa 3-1 away from home, while Westport take on Ennis Town on February 10th in the round of 32.
Sunday will see Ballina Town and Mervue United do battle for the U12 David Forde Cup, while the second tie on Sunday is between Merville United and Mervue United for the U15 title.
Ballina Town had an excellent win over Abbeyfeale United last weekend in national competition, and Mervue United were also on the winning side when they met Mallow Town.
Finally, Merville United’s U15 side lost out to Kellsblackwater in their last 32 tie last weekend, while Mervue United were also beaten in their round of 32 clash against Corinthian Boys.
