There was double joy for Evergreen FC on Saturday when both their U12 and U16 sides claimed south-east regional SFAI Skechers National Cups.

The finals were held in the superb surroundings of Curracloe United, and the glorious weather made for an excellent event.

In the U12 competition, Evergreen faced fellow Kilkenny side Thomastown United, and they were ahead with 14 minutes on the clock when Regan Downey struck.

United went on to equalise towards the end of the opening half, but Evergreen reclaimed the lead when Brian Moore hit the back of the net.

Moore was a constant threat throughout, and he bagged a second after 56 minutes, cementing Evergeen’s victory.

Later on it was the turn of the U16s and North End United were the opponents for Evergeen this time.

In what was a tight but thrilling affair, extra-time was required to separate the two teams, with the game ending 1-1 after normal time.

Moses scored for the opener for the eventual winners, but North End equalised, and in additional time Mikey Clifford was to be the hero, bagging a crucial winner.
