Inishowen’s U12s booked their place in the SFAI Subway Plate national semi-finals on Sunday when they overcame a stern test against Sligo/Leitrim.

Played in Cleveragh, the youngsters from Inishowen captured the Ulster Plate title thanks to two goals in the second half.

Tiernan Ruddy was the one who broke the deadlock with 35 minutes played, and Brendan McLaughlin then added a second five minutes later.

The homeside pushed for a goal, as they had done for the majority of the tie, but Inishowen showed their resilient side to advance.

They will now face Athlone in the U12 SFAI Subway national semi-final next weekend, with a place in the national final later in May up for grabs.
