The Donegal U12’s earned what proved to be a crucial point on Sunday when they drew 1-1 with Cavan/Monaghan.

The draw saw Donegal (below) secure a place in the national semi-finals, while for Cavan/Monaghan, they will now enter the regional plate competition.

With Sunday’s tie 0-0 at the break, Conor Kelly struck in the second half to give Donegal the lead.

However, the visitors (below) hit back through Jack Coombes before the end to earn an impressive point away to the group winners.

Elsewhere, the Donegal U13 team came out on the right side of a 4-3 result against Cavan/Monaghan on Saturday when the teams met in Sherlock Park.

Oisin Duffy was the hero, bagging all four goals in what was a thrilling encounter.

Duffy bagged his hat-trick before half-time, which included a stunning 25-yard strike, before Cavan/Monaghan hit back after the restart thanks to Jack Carolan.

However, Duffy was on target again soon after that to restore his side’s three goal advantage.

It should have been plain sailing after that, but the homeside battled back to score another two goals via the very impressive Chris Biji, increasing the pressure in the final few minutes.

Thankfully for Donegal they had the resilience to dig in and grind out the result, and they now sit top of the group on goal difference.

With Sligo/Leitrim and Inishowen still to play, the result of that tie will decide who progresses to the national semi-final and who plays in the plate competition.
