It was a mixed weekend for the West Cork Schoolboys, with their U12 side running out 3-0 winners against South Tipperary and their U13 team drawing 2-2 with Waterford.

For the U12’s, the victory leapfrogs them above their opponents, and they still have one more game to play, with a home draw on offer in the plate play-offs.

Prince Iyalla bagged two goals, while Sean Murphy added a third for the West Cork youngsters.

Meanwhile, the U13’s were held to a 2-2 draw when they met Waterford. Ben O’Sullivan opened the scoring for the homeside before Waterford equalised after the restart.

Into the second half and it was O’Sullivan who hit the back of the net for West Cork, with his pace causing all sorts of problems.

Tom McQueen then had a superb effort from a dead ball go inches wide, which would have ensured the points stayed in Skibbereen.

However, Waterford struck late to earn a point, and they now look ahead to a Munster semi-final, while West Cork move into the plate competition, with fixtures due to be confirmed in the coming days.
