Goals from Jamie O’Driscoll, Kevin O’Dea and James O’Leary ensured St Mary’s progressed to the U16 SFAI Skechers quarter-finals when they met Regional United on Saturday.

The last 16 tie was one full of talking points, and when Regional took the lead midway through the second half, the Saints needed to hit back quickly.

Thankfully for them, Jamie O’Driscoll was in the right spot to head home James O’Leary’s superb cross, and what followed was an exciting extra-time period.

During that time many of the Mary’s youngsters stood up to the task, with a second goal for them coming from O’Dea when he headed in Colm Murphy’s delivery.

With five minutes to go the eventual winners then made the win secure when O’Leary converted from the penalty spot.

The win now sees St Mary’s set up a quarter-final game with Evergreen of Kilkenny, with that tie set to be played over the weekend of March 17th/18th/19th.
