Liam McCormack struck in extra-time to seal a superb 3-2 win for Peake Villa on Saturday when they travelled to Wexford to take on North End United in the U15 SFAI Skechers National Cup.

Although they found themselves behind early on when Aaron Roche struck for North End, Villa goalkeeper Josh Coady pulled off a string of saves after that to keep the score at 1-0.

The visitors then settled, and on 20 minutes Alejandro Garcia Diaz equalised after some inventive play from the likes of Danny Treacy, Tony Galvin and McCormack.

The latter then made it 2-1 before half-time with a brilliantly struck free-kick, but North End hit back almost instantly thanks to Aaron Roche.

The second half was one filled with chances for the Villa, with the likes of Gavin O’Shaughnessy, Shane Turner and Calum Blakebourough going close, but the breakthrough never came, and so the tie went to extra-time.

The winning goal came eight minutes after the restart, and it was one to remember for McCormack who struck the ball from distance to send the visiting fans into celebration.

A battling display from the Villa youngsters then saw them weather the North End pressure, with the likes of Josh Coady, Danny Treacy and Tom Reilly all impressing.
