Leixlip United booked their place in the DDSL regional semi-finals of the SFAI Skechers National Cup competition on Sunday with a convincing win over Cherry Orchard.

Leixlip’s form in the competition has been superb, and it was Gabriel Adebambo who opened the scoring on Sunday in front of a large crowd.

Up against the league champions, the homeside knew they would need to be at their best to progress, and Adebambo was in inspired form, bagging a second just after the restart.

He was involved in the third goal too, this time feeding Clinton Okundaye who teed up Josh Giurgi to score with a well-taken volley.

Others to register goals included debutant Ross Molloy and Isacc Igovajah.

Leixlip will now face Crumlin United in the regional semi-finals, while they will travel to Moyne Villa in Galway this coming weekend in the last 32 of the national competition.
