Carlow’s U15 side will battle it out with the DDSL in the Leinster Final of the SFAI Subway Championship after they beat the NDSL 6-2 on Sunday.

Both Myles Hutton and Dylan Hand were on the double, but it was not all straightforward, with the NDSL pushing hard when the game was 2-1 and then 3-2 to Carlow

Thankfully the injection of fresh legs from the bench helped Carlow, and they pulled away from their opponents in the final stages.

Hutton opened the scoring early on after good work from Brandon Kelly saw possession turned over before the ball was fed to Oscar Brennan who in turn fed it to Hutton.

Soon after that Adam McCarron netted a superb free-kick to make it 2-0 after Kelly had been fouled on the edge of the area.

McCarron almost scored an identical goal shortly after that, this time hitting the goal frame from a dead-ball, before the NDSL made it 2-1 before the break.

The goal gave them some confidence at the beginning of the second half, and only for a brilliant save from Ben Goodwin, they would have been level.

Thankfully for the eventual winners, their defence held firm after that, and Hutton bagged his second, but back came the NDSL to make it 3-2.

There was a need for a boost, and Carlow had the energy on their bench to come on and make a difference.

Eoghan Byrne made it 4-2, and Dylan Hand then registered a well-taken brace to seal the win and a place in the regional final.
