It was third time lucky for North Tipperary’s U12 SFAI Subway Championship team on Sunday as they picked up their first win of the competition in their third outing.

Having started with a 2-2 draw against Kerry back in November, the youngsters then lost to Limerick District, but Sunday’s victory over Limerick County means they now have four points on the board.

Creating lots of scoring opportunities in the first half, North Tipperary forced the young County goalkeeper in several impressive saves.

He was eventually beaten, however, with players including Fionn Higgins and Tom Wood hitting the back of the net.

The latter registered a brace on a day when North Tipp played some lovely football from front to back.

In the second half Limerick County continued to play with energy and determination, but they found a formidable opponent in North Tipperary.

Scott Kenny added another brace as the game reached its end, while James Kenneally was also on the scoresheet.

Next up for the winners is a trip to Clare, while County will face local rivals Limerick District.
