It was honours even when Carlow and the NECSL faced off in Navan on Sunday in the U12 SFAI Subway Championship – with the tie ending 1-1.

In the opening game of the competition for both leagues’ teams, it was the visitors who showed the early running, and they were rewarded for their good play.

Dylan Murphy bagged the goal after some good build-up play, but NECSL stuck to their game plan, and were soon back in contention.

The equalising goal saw the game reach an exciting climax as the two sides went in search of a winner, but in the end it was point apiece.

Both sides will reconvene their SFAI Subway Championship competition after the Christmas break, with NECSL scheduled to play NDSL and Carlow up against Wicklow.
