Listowel Celtic’s U14 side booked their place in the final 32 of the SFAI Skechers National Cup on Saturday when they overcame the challenge of Caherdavin Celtic.

Aoife Horgan was the star of the show, assisting and scoring a goal, while others including Kieran O’Carroll also impressed. Indeed, O’Carroll netted a hat-trick in the tie.

The win sees Celtic now face Mallow United, with the winners of that game set to play the winners of Douglas Hall and Lakewood.

Saturday’s win began with Horgan teeing up Robert Stack who converted from close-range.

Horgan then fed Christopher McQuaid who drove the ball into O’Carroll before he slotted in at the back post.

Stack and O’Carroll added to their tally, to double Listowel’s lead, and Horgan then bagged a deserved goal before Caherdavin Celtic launched something of a comeback.

Four unanswered goals meant the last few minutes were nervy for Celtic, but O’Connell completed his hat-trick in the final stages to complete the win.
