Goals from Tom Hanrahan and Adam O’Neill ensured Clare maintained their winning start in the U15 SFAI Subway Championship on Sunday – beating North Tipperary 2-0.

Having overcome Limerick Desmond in their opening tie last month, Declan Farmer’s side wasted no time in netting the opener thanks to Hanrahan who latched onto Ixim Dagge’s pass before slotting home.

Dagge was joined in the Clare midfield by Dean Hegarty and Scott Kirkland, and all three ensured Clare dominated possession.

That being said, the trio were left frustrated by Harry Fleming in the North Tipperary goal after he denied the home side on several occasions in the first half.

A powerful run from Niko Kozlowski handed the visitors their best chance of levelling proceedings early on when he was fouled on the edge of the box, but Aaron Curtis saved Dylan Morrissey’s effort.

Not to be outdone by his opposite number, Fleming then denied Kirkland from 30 yards with a superb save, and at the break their was the slimmest margin between the two Munster sides.

In the second half Clare continued to press for a second goal, but North Tipp battled well, and youngsters including Cameron Fleming, Cillian Scully and Sam Rosney impressed.

However, the eventual winners maintained their high level of intensity throughout, and when O’Neill latched onto Dagge’s blocked shot, Clare’s tally was doubled.

Clare will now face fellow table-toppers, Limerick District in their next tie. The winner of that game will face the other Munster group winner for a place in the national semi-finals.
